Is Our Sound Quality Up To Scratch?
We have been delighted with the reaction from film audiences
to the improved sound quality in Matthews Hall. The excellent
work to improve the hall over the summer included relocating
the forward wall-mounted speakers, fitting acoustic tiles and
installing a larger ‘central speaker’ – the
one that sits underneath the screen when we show films.
After six films, we have heard of very few problems with audiences
not hearing the dialogue and we are confident that we have cracked
this problem at last.
If you disagree or have any comments on the sound quality, or
any other issue, please let committee members know at the door
or the bar when you next come to a film.
Do You Want To Help Our Film Society?
The 2009 Topsham Film Society annual general meeting takes place
at 7.15pm on Friday March 5 just before our penultimate film
of the season. (Please note – this is two weeks earlier
than originally scheduled.)
The current committee members will provide details of membership
and accounts during the 2009-2010 season and there will be elections
for members of the committee for 2010-2011.
Do you want to play a bigger role in the society by joining our
committee? Members have varied tasks: at committee level there
are the traditional roles such as chairman, secretary, treasurer
and publicity officer, while at the film showings the committee
members operate the projection equipment, run the bar and check
membership details. There is also the highly enjoyable but challenging
task each summer of deciding on the next season’s films!
If you are interested in being a member of the committee please
contact our Chairman, Michael Smithson, on 875625, or speak with
any current committee member when you next attend a film.
