| Welcome to the Topsham Film Society!
Hello and welcome to the Topsham Film Society website.
Here
you will find details of our 2009-10
programme – our
largest ever, with 12 films for an annual membership fee of just £21.
We hope you will agree that there is a stimulating and entertaining
mix of titles, including our first ballet and an adult animation
film as well as a few classics and some contemporary drama and
comedy.
The Topsham Film Society was founded in 2004. We
meet in Topsham's Matthews Hall. The Society shows around 12
films each year between October and March, and has attracted
around 200 members each year. The range of films is always varied
and eclectic, reflecting the varied interests of our members.
Showings
Performances take place at Matthew’s Hall, Fore Street, Topsham on many
Fridays from October until March inclusive. Matinees begin at 3pm (doors 2.30pm)
and evening performances at 7.30pm (doors and bar from 6.45pm). There is likely
to be much more room for guests as well as members at the 3pm performance.
Our annual Opera performance does not have a matinee and starts at 7pm, with
the bar from 6.30pm.
Audience rating
At every screening we gauge the reaction of our audience. Each
attendee is asked whether they consider the film to be Excellent,
Good, Fair, Poor or Awful. Using a method of analysis common
amongst film societies like ours, we can see that the higher
the 'reaction' percentage, the more popular the film. This
in turn helps us create film programmes that are stimulating
and enjoyable.
