| Welcome to the Topsham Film Society!
The Topsham Film Society was founded in 2004.
We meet in Topsham's Matthews Hall. The Society shows around
10 films each year between October and March, and has attracted
around 200 members each year. The range of films is always varied
and eclectic, reflecting the varied interests of our members.
We also provide films in Topsham Town Fayre Week and for other
special events in Topsham.
2008-9 programme
The 2008-9 programme will consist of at least 10 films, including
operatic and classic art-house titles - and there will again
be an opportunity for members to choose a film, too. Full details
will appear on this website soon.
Showings
Performances take place at Matthew’s Hall, Fore Street,
Topsham on the first Friday from October until March inclusive.
Matinees begin at 3.30pm (doors 3pm) and evening performances
at 7.30pm (doors and bar from 6.45pm). There is likely to be
much more room for guests as well as members at the 3.30pm performance.
We also hold some evening-only performances over the winter.
Membership
TFS will be recruiting members for the 2008/2009 season during
the summer. Please visit this website again then for more details.
Audience rating
At every screening we gauge the reaction of our audience. Each
attendee is asked whether they consider the film to be Excellent,
Good, Fair, Poor or Awful. Using a method of analysis common
amongst film societies like ours, we can see that the higher
the 'reaction' percentage, the more popular the film. This
in turn helps us create film programmes that are stimulating
and enjoyable.
Topsham Film Society Forum
Members of the Topsham Film Society may wish to subscribe to
our email discussion group which provides an opportunity to
discuss films viewed, upcoming showings and any other related
cinematic matters and issues. If you are a TFS member and would
like to join the Forum, please send an email to subscribeforum@topshamfilmsociety.co.uk
Thank you - and we look forward to seeing you next season.
